Abstract

evaluates the methods and educational materials used to educate the children of each nation and ethnic group in the close environment and especially within the family. This study aims to reveal the ethnopedagogical elements in Khaled Hosseini's novel The Kite Runner. Revealing the ethnopedagogical elements in the novel is important in terms of what ethnopedagogical elements will teach future generations. The research was designed in accordance with the basic qualitative research design, one of the qualitative research method designs. Document analysis method was chosen to conduct the research and deductive research approach was used to analyse the findings. In this process, Hosseini's novel was read, existing ethnopedagogical elements were identified and given as findings. The findings were analysed according to the sub-headings of the transmission of cultural heritage and universal values. Elements such as poems, folk songs and humor, knowing ancestry, kite chasing festivals, shercengi competition, buzkashi tournament, national Attan game, wedding traditions, religious beliefs, important national days, and elements such as friendship and sacrifice, truthfulness and honesty were evaluated in terms of Afghanistan's cultural heritage and universal values. These findings were interpreted by deductive data analysis method. The subheadings of cultural heritage and universal values are explained from the perspective of ethnopedagogical elements. As a result of the study, it is concluded that the author wants to convey the ethnopedagogical elements of Afghanistan and universal values to the reader by assuming an intellectual responsibility.
