Abstract

Every society has pedagogical experiences that have been shaped within its own cultural circle for centuries. These pedagogical experiences are the way society raises children and young people in order to achieve the idealized human being. The branch of science that deals with the way young generations are raised in a society is ethnopedagogy. Ethnopedagogy; “examines the process of social interaction and social influence in which a person assimilates social norms, values, experience in the environment in which they are raised and developed” (Çınar, 2022). This concept was introduced and developed by the Chuvash scholar G.N. Volkov. Volkov not only contributed to science with his works in this field, but also trained many valuable experts in the field of ethnopedagogy. One of these experts is T.N. Petrova. Following in Volkov's footsteps, Petrova's works in the field of folk pedagogy and ethnopedagogy shed light on the education of both the Chuvash people and other ethnic groups. This article focuses on Petrova's work titled “Chuvash pedagogy as a phenomenon of world civilization”, which she brought to the world of science in 2000.
